Allison and Kees

The Venice Canals at Christmas are beautiful in the way only a place with terrible access can be.

But once you’re in, you’re in. Built in 1905 as part of Abbot Kinney’s attempt to invent his own “Venice of America,” the canals were always meant to sell a dreamier version of Los Angeles, and, frustrating for everyone who doesn’t live there, they still do.

This part of LA still gives off that very specific 90s magazine feeling; polished but relaxed, romantic without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place that looks like it was built specifically for attractive people to flirt near water.
